Equulith I
Archival pigment print on oversized Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl paper.

Is it an ancient rock art painting by a skilled cave artisan — or an image left behind by a future horse worshipper and viewed from an even more distant future? There is room for your imagination to run free in this intriguing equine image.

Equulith I is a digital composite photograph I created from three of my photos: A thoroughbred horse and two images of rocks along the Sonoma coast near Sea Ranch, California. I created this photo to evoke the impression of an ancient rock painting. The title comes from equus, which is the Latin word for horse, and lithos, the Greek word for stone. The Roman numeral I indicates I plan to create more Equulith images in the future.

This print is an open, numbered edition. Each print is numbered and signed by myself and includes a certificate of authenticity. Two image sizes are offered – see below.

My editions are printed with Epson Ultrachrome archival pigment ink on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl paper. This is a heavy weight archival quality paper with a slight luster finish, reminiscent of art-quality double weight photographic paper. Each print is sprayed with several coats of a UV protective coating. This ink/paper combination yields prints with maximum tonal range, saturated colors and rich blacks. The image sizes listed below are printed on oversized paper with plenty of room for handling and matting.
