Whiskey on the Hill
Archival pigment print on oversized Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl paper.

Resting on his hilltop pasture, "Whiskey" enjoys the shelter of an oak tree whose branches seem to envelope and protect him in this classic black-and-white image.

Whiskey on the Hill is a digital composite photograph I created from two of my photos: the foreground image of a thoroughbred horse named “Whiskey” under an oak tree, and the sky image of clouds. I photographed the horse in the hills just north of Santa Rosa, California, in April 2006. This photo received a nomination in the silhouette category of the 2007 Black-and-White Spider Awards. It has also been chosen to be reproduced in the Spider Awards' book The World's Greatest Black & White Photography.

This print is an open, numbered edition. Each print is numbered and signed by myself and includes a certificate of authenticity. Two image sizes are offered – see below.

My editions are printed with Epson Ultrachrome archival pigment ink on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl paper. This is a heavy weight archival quality paper with a slight luster finish, reminiscent of art-quality double weight photographic paper. Each print is sprayed with several coats of a UV protective coating. This ink/paper combination yields prints with maximum tonal range, saturated colors and rich blacks. The image sizes listed below are printed on oversized paper with plenty of room for handling and matting.

Note: For copyright purposes, my "SG" logo is proportionally much larger on this Web image than on the printed version. All photos appearing on this Web site are copyrighted. It is illegal to copy or duplicate them in any way.
