SG Photo is all about capturing moments. Most of the work happens on sidelines, rinks, gyms, fields, and anywhere action, milestones, and real life are unfolding fast. The aim is to make photos that look alive and full of energy — images that matter now and still hit just as hard years later.

Steve Gilbert built SG Photo by combining two lifelong passions: sports and storytelling. When he’s not behind the camera, he’s usually on the water. He’s been boating for as long as he can remember and that love for  the outdoors plays a big role in how he shoots. Steve also grew up playing hockey and later took on coaching youth hockey, staying deeply connected to youth sports and school athletic programs. You’ll often find him at games across seasons, providing coverage for schools, leagues, and local media.

Steve shoots for a local newspaper, covering both community events and sports for press use, and offers ongoing media coverage for school athletics and local sports organizations. Whether it’s tournament action, a championship push, or a full media day for an athletic program, SG Photo is there to document it. Along with live coverage, the work includes candid galleries, and team composites.

Portrait photography is just as important to SG Photo as sports coverage. Steve has spent years working with families and individuals to capture milestone moments in a personal, natural way. Family portrait sessions focus on connection, personality, and the moments between the posed shots that become favorites later. Senior photo sessions are all about celebrating the student — their interests and style.
